Service Engineers with Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (LSFO) focus to Aalborg Industries A/S, Marine After Sales, Aalborg

23 August 2010

Aalborg Industries – the world's leading supplier of marine boilers – is looking for service engineers for our Marine After Sales division in Aalborg. Our service engineers are working intensively with the implementation of a new green technology and we are looking for more competent colleagues to join.

The environmental LSFO project
In short, because of environmental legislation heavy fuel oil (HFO) is no longer permissible during port stay and in specific areas at sea, so it has become necessary to switch to lighter, “better” fuel oil types like low sulphur fuel oil. The mentioned legislation has substantial impact on existing and future installations of Aalborg Industries requiring monitoring and modifications to the burner and fuel systems. Exactly this will be your focus as our new service engineer servicing Aalborg Industries’ customers.

Your job as a service engineer with LSFO focus
As our new service engineer you will be allocated especially to the LSFO project. You will travel world-wide to carry out LSFO tasks onboard vessels so the job includes much travel activity (approximately 180 days per year) and the work pace is high. Sailing can be part of the job during LSFO commissioning.

Your primary tasks will be:

  • LSFO installation, monitoring and modification of burners, boilers, fuel and control systems
  • LSFO commissioning
  • Hand over to class and owner
  • Training of crew and, on sight, potential training of new colleagues in LSFO tasks
  • Ad hoc projects, service and troubleshooting tasks for the service department

Your competences
We are looking for structured, service and quality minded colleagues to build strong relations with our customers. We expect you to have marine engineer or industrial electrician background including a thorough knowledge of boilers, burners and control systems – and you love technical challenges in hectic surroundings. It is important that you are flexible, independent and robust and like to work in a very active environment. Experience from similar employment is an advantage. Further, good communication skills in English, spoken and written, are essential, along with an understanding of Microsoft Office products. Driving license and the special “medical certificate for mariners and fishermen” are required.

We offer
We offer good opportunities for professional and personal development as we focus on competence development and provide our employees the opportunity for advancement in time. Furthermore, we make sure that our new colleagues receive the necessary training and support.

More information
Additional information about the position can be obtained from Department Manager, Combustion Service, Ole Preben Nielsen, phone + 45 99 30 46 31.
