Alfa Laval Aalborg boiler control system
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Description
Aalborg Control (formerly MISSION™ CONTROL) is a fully computerized control system designed with hardware dedicated to marine boiler control in a maritime environment.
Specifics of the Aalborg boiler control system
- Control panel with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) locally on the burner
- Access to the control system from various places
- Electronic key control system prevents simultaneous operation from more stations
- PC with Scada software provides historical data and trends
The Aalborg Control is supplied in a number of modules for practical installation onboard.
-
The power panel is normally installed in a convenient position with respect to cabling from the main switchboard and the location of heavy consumers like forced draught fan and feed pumps. It contains the starters for these motors. Furthermore, ancillary equipment like smoke detector, oxygen detector, salinity detector, etc. are located inside the power panel. A CPU module is mounted here to take care of memory control, I/O control, and communication with the other system parts.
-
The local control panel mounted locally at the burner for obvious reasons contains an alphanumeric 4-line display for local interaction with the control system. Furthermore, it contains a CPU module to take care of memory control, I/O control, and communication with the other system parts. The local control panel is the place to find the emergency operation system to use in the rare case of computer failure.
-
A PC remotely installed in ECR, CCR or wheel house provides facilities like fully remote boiler control and data acquisition to show trend curves and to ease fault tracing.
The Aalborg Control system is widely used with the burners on Alfa Laval Aalborg’s larger boilers, typically double boiler plants, like Aalborg D, Aalborg OL, and Aalborg OM. However, the system is independent of boiler capacity and suits well on Aalborg OS and Aalborg OC.
The software is written in C++ and compiled to assembler language installed in a non-volatile EPROM.
